Narrastat is in closed beta

Oct 16, 2026 · The Narrastat team

If you are revising a novel and want to see what it is actually doing, you can ask for an invitation today.

Why we’re building Narrastat

We’re building Narrastat into a product that really helps indie authors understand their story, and gives them a way to improve it the way they want to improve it; to become their own story engineer.

It started as a tool for my daughter and me, to study what stories are statistically; the evidence your story is doing what you think it’s doing before you send it off to a human editor.

What it does

Import your manuscript and Narrastat splits it into scenes, then charts the story: pacing, stakes, who carries each scene and who disappears, how your scenes map to a structure, and which setups pay off.

Then compare it

Set those charts beside a masterwork, or beside your own earlier draft. The same charts, side by side, so a number means something.

What it will never do

  • It never writes, rewrites or suggests a line.
  • Your story is never used to train generative AI models.
  • A masterwork is a reference to measure against, never a template to copy.

What this beta is for

Whether it is useful to you, and what is missing before it would be, is the part we cannot work out on our own.

So it is free and invitation-only until it is worth paying for. There is nothing you have to do in return, but if something is wrong, missing or useless, write to [email protected]. That is what decides what gets built next.

When paid plans do arrive, everyone who was here during the beta keeps a lower rate, for as long as they stay.

How to get in

Request an invitation. We read every request, and when a place opens we email you an invitation. For now, sign-in needs a Gmail address.
